Hints and Tricks
Master-Image
- Choose your master image carefully. Especially, if you use a portrait or people photography for you master image. Fewer small details in your master image will improve your results.
- Make sure your master image has a standard size. Use for both landscape or portrait orientation a ratio of 4:3 or 3:2.
- Have a close and good look at your master image and try to estimate the portions of main colors. Does the master image have a lot of blue parts? Or are red and green the dominant clors? It will help you with the selection of your tile images.
Tile Images
- It is usually a good idea to choose tiles that have itself a dominant color.
- Tile images with frames stick out in a mosaic.
Working with Flickr
- First, prepare sets with your tile images on Flickr. For example, create a set with images that are rather blue. Create another set with bright and red colors. When you then choose your tile images on "mosaickr.com" you can simply choose complete sets to add to your mosaic.
- This way you can then later easily and quickly correct and improve your results by changing around your sets on Flickr.
- Search by tags on Flickr for images released under the creative commons license. On "mosaickr.com" you can then later search for the same tags and select the images for your mosaic.
